When you’re a passionate library media specialist, making your way between two school buildings to spread the love of literacy to your students in new and engaging ways each and every day, winning free books is like winning the lottery.

For Miss Debbie Heitzenrater, an educator in the business of enlightening little learners for almost 40 years, the opportunity to bring in fresh material for the 2016-2017 school year was a major win! Miss Debbie has held her title of library media specialist for the last 17 years at Circle Towanda Elementary School in Towanda, Kansas, where she once held court for 20 years as a classroom teacher to round out her impressive tenure in education.

These days, Miss Debbie has the pleasure (and great responsibility) of working with students of many ages, from early childhood on up through sixth grade. This means many, many students, countless lesson plans, and endless opportunities to develop new reading opportunities that will keep her students enriched and as in love with literacy as she is.

Her favorite part of the job?

A woman after our own heart for sure! At Bulk Bookstore, we certainly know a thing or two about getting excited over books! And now, Miss Debbie has put her excitement, and contest winnings, to good use! In preparation for preparing new lesson plans for her third grade group for the upcoming school year, Miss Debbie has placed her order for Caleb’s Story, written by Patricia Maclachlan. A great choice considering the mystery genre takes the cake for her absolute favorite to share with students.

A story of intrigue and family relationships, mystery, secrets, and tragedy – this captivating tale is sure to have Miss Debbie’s third grade students enthralled and in for the literary ride of their lives … and we’re so happy to have provided the keys.
