TrialCard Empowers Employees Through StrengthsFinder 2.0

Posted by Jamie M., Book Specialist on Aug 16th 2017

North Carolina-based TrialCard was founded in 2001 to improve the way prescription drug samples were dispensed by a pharmacy.

Today, the company offers best in class customized patient access solutions exclusively for the pharmaceutical industry in support of product marketing, patient assistance programs, and phase IV clinical trials. The goal is to help pharmaceutical companies increase the access and affordability of their medicines to patients.

The company’s Process Improvement Director Karen spoke to our team about how TrialCard is incorporating bestselling leadership book, StrengthsFinder 2.0, into their Women’s Development Program. The goal is to empower the female members of TrialCard through a focus on individual strengths and natural talents.

Positive Personal Development

With success comes growth. TrialCard was delivering double digit year over year growth which created a need for accelerating the career path of its’ employees, many of whom were women. Based on previous experiences, a core team of women took the opportunity to introduce a Women’s Development Program at TrialCard.

Focusing on a new topic each month, the Women’s Development Program helps these members to shine by offering advice on topics like communication, managing difficult situations, understanding your strengths, and the importance of self-gratitude.

“I can speak from experience that women tend to focus on where we need to improve, rather than how we can use the strengths we already have and nurture them. We can often be our own worst enemies,” Karen said.

It was when the program organizers began the search for new personal development tools that they discovered StrengthsFinder 2.0, and they couldn’t be more thrilled they did.

Know Thyself (And Thy Strengths!)

Incorporating StrengthsFinder 2.0 and strengths-based leadership tactics was a game-changer for TrialCard’s Women’s Development Program.

“It ties in perfectly with what we’re doing,” Karen explained. “When we run into a tricky situation, we can bring up StrengthsFinder and return to those strengths we’ve identified in ourselves.” She elaborated, “Knowing and understanding what your strengths are and how you use them in your personal and professional relationships makes a huge difference.”

With approximately 30 women currently participating in the program, it’s nice to have a book that ties the course together to help keep it organized. “You can never really fall too far behind if you miss a class because you can go back to the StrengthsFinder book and get caught up.”

One of the key parts of the program? A brand statement, where participants work on tying their strengths into statements about themselves – who they are, what they do, what they’re good at, and what they stand for. “We’re all about using our strengths to build confidence,” said Karen. “By knowing their strengths, these women can develop strategic objectives and gain a confidence that will continue to propel them forward in their careers and in lives.”

“Knowing we have this program and that it’s developing our people personally and professionally makes us proud,” she said. “Not only do we gain and retain more confident employees, but these young women learn to love, accept, and respect themselves and how valuable they are. Our company culture has greatly improved because of this program, and StrengthsFinder!”

We are so impressed by these personal development initiatives at TrialCard, and wish all the best to the lucky participants of this inspiring program!
