This Portland-based subscription box company is revolutionizing how bookworms bathe! 

Read on to see how Book Bath Box is combining self-health with fantasy/sci-fi novels to create what owner Winx calls “some epic pairings.” With a book title, bath product, and other fun goodies inside, these whimsical boxes are a splendid example of how bulk books can provide comfort – and even kick-start a small business.

Youtube Dreams to Reality

Owner and creator of Book Bath Box, Winx Goll, told Bulk Bookstore about her lifelong love of literature, and how her passion for books first became a hobby, which eventually led to a business.

“I started a YouTube channel where I talk about books,” she explained to Bulk Bookstore. “At some point, I decided that it would be fun to do a video about how I personally like to read in the bath.” 

Winx continued, “I love to make epic, thematic book baths. I’ll have a book, pick out a bath product related to the book and do the same with whatever I’m drinking or snacking on. It’s always tied together with a theme, and it all comes together in this really amazing way.”                 

Responses to her video came pouring in – people not only loved the idea, they wanted Winx to put together book pairings for the bath for them! After hitting 1,000 subscribers, she ran a giveaway to gauge the desire for these creative combinations...and boy, did business begin to boom after that.

Bookworms, Unite!

Soon after, Winx set up a KickStarter to get her book-bath business off the ground. With bundles of bookworms backing her idea, and her product in high demand, it didn’t take long. “I met my goal in only two days!” she exclaimed.

“I don’t think any of this would’ve gotten off the ground if it weren’t for the online bookworm community – spreading the word, tweeting about my KickStarter, filling out my surveys,” Winx explained. “Everybody came together and really helped me – it got funded so fast."

In a whirlwind, Winx had started a small business...but now she needed the most important element: BOOKS!

"The books were going to be the hardest part of this project. They’re the most expensive item in the box, so I started looking for wholesale prices because that really is the only way you can successfully run a subscription box from your apartment,” she said.

“I was extra excited when I found Bulk Bookstore because I’m also located in Portland," Winx added. "I love to work with local businesses when putting the boxes together!"
