After the invasion of Holland, the Franks, German Jews who emigrated to Amsterdam in 1933, hid from the Gestapo in the attic of the building next door to their business.
In this precarious hiding place, 13-year-old Anne wrote her famous diary: a unique testament to Nazi barbarism and her family’s predicament. This edition faithfully reproduces the entries in Anne’s notebooks just as she wrote them, uncut and unedited.
It also includes the few but fascinating fictional works she was able to complete during her all-too-short life.
