How to Get Book Donations for Schools

Posted by Makena Martin, BBS Cares Ambassador on Feb 16th 2021

Children need books. They need to hear stories, be exposed to new ideas, and see images that expand their creativity and imagination. Reading also improves vocabulary, grammar, writing and communication skills too. Yet millions of children in the US lack access to the books. We applaud the work of the thousands of heroes, through their time and donations, who work to ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop a life-long love of reading both in school and at home.

Our team receives requests every day for donations from many worthy organizations including teachers, schools. non-profits and others. Their stories inspire us and tug at our heartstrings, so we launched our BBS Cares initiatives, to help.

It’s a great honor for Bulk Bookstore to do our part to support and promote literacy by donating thousands of books to worthy non-profits, schools, and libraries through our BBS Cares initiatives. In addition to frequent free book giveaway contests, our 2021 Smile Award is accepting quarterly entries for a $1,000 literacy grant. The chosen organization can browse our site and select $1,000 worth of free books from our catalog of more than 3 million published titles.

How do I inquire about school book donations, you may ask?

As Bulk Bookstore's Cares Ambassador, I have the joyful job of representing the good we do through our social responsibility initiatives. Some of my favorite memories center around reading books with my family. From completing reading challenges at my local library to co-authoring several thrilling novels with my siblings, books hold a special place in my heart. Outside of the wonderful work we do as a company, I’m an avid steward of the environment and regularly volunteer for clean up efforts on our local trails and recreation areas.
