Composed throughout four decades, Julio Ramón Ribeyro’s short fiction, which the author himself entitled The Mute’s Word, displays a series of registers that covers the spheres of fantasy, society, philosophy, and introspective memory to evoke his European youth and his childhood in Miraflores, in his native Lima.
