To protect his beloved prince, he must find those responsible for a massacre in the royal palace, and the only clues are held by the Death Knight, the notorious criminal who rules Castellane’s underworld. The trail Kel follows leads back to the Hill, where among decadent nobles and ostentatious parties a dark conspiracy has been hatched to destroy the royal family.
Meanwhile, Lin Caster must face the consequences of saving her friend’s life. Lin has falsely claimed to be the Reborn Goddess, the legendary heroine destined to save everyone; now the terrifying yet strangely magnetic leader of her people has arrived to test her powers.
Then, Prince Conor reappears in her life, demanding she use them to cure his father, the King’s, madness. Lin soon realizes the King is trapped by an ancient and terrible magic whose seduction she cannot deny, nor can she deny her growing feelings for Conor.
