This novel is a trip to the years just after the invention of the printing press, when a book merchant begins a search for a mysterious copy that has been stolen from the largest library in the West, created in Seville by Christopher Columbus’ son.
It is the year 1517, young Thomas crosses the emerging Renaissance Europe fleeing from his past. It is in those years following America’s discovery and the invention of the printing press, a period of profound changes that meant the end of the Middle Ages. The great curiosity and attraction he feels for the New World, cultivated by his constant readings, will take him to Spain, where he will begin to work with a book merchant.
The task of locating a copy shrouded in mystery takes him to Seville, a prosperous city that serves as a link in trade with the Indies and which holds, within its walls, the most important library in the West, created by Christopher Columbus’ son and called the Colombina. It is precisely there that Thomas discovers that someone has stolen the book he is looking for and, for some reason, is very keen to ensure that no one finds it.
