Overview

Republican President James Whitcomb is in his third year in the White House. Whitcomb had been a Marine helicopter pilot who was shot down in Iraq. After leaving the service, he attended law school, joined a Wall Street law firm and became a successful two term governor in New Jersey. He ran for president when President Trump unexpectedly announced that he would not seek a second term. Whitcomb won the Republican primary and defeated his Democratic opponent in the general election.Denis Lenihan is Whitcomb's chief of staff and best friend. He recently determined that Whitcomb should begin his reelection campaign by making a series of "road shows" across the country. Whitcomb would be able to speak directly to friendly crowds in the heartland, spreading the good news about the successes of the Whitcomb administration.Whitcomb seconded his chief of staff's idea. His only condition was that Phoenix be one of the road show stops. Lenihan did not bother to argue.Jake Rosen, the publisher of the New York CHRONICLE, the country's leading progressive newspaper, was making plans of his own. Through various sources at his disposal, he had obtained information about Whitcomb which, if true, would enable Rosen to control the occupant of the White House. Rosen saw this as an opportunity to remake America, to pull it out of the dark, bottomless pit into which it had fallen with the election of Donald Trump. Rosen put in place a "shadow" campaign, to follow Whitcomb across the country, waiting for that one slip up that Rosen could use as a virtual chokehold on Whitcomb to lead him around, to control him, to make him do what Rosen knew was best for America.Bobby Manzi is a Staten Island guy. He hated going into Manhattan but since his union offices were there, and his Mafia crew, he didn't have much choice. The job he was doing for Jake Rosen was a little unusual. However, given Manzi's skill set, he had been able to implement Rosen's scheme flawlessly. As anticipated, Manzi was able to ascertain that Whitcomb's visit to Phoenix would provide Rosen with the opportunity to score the only goal that mattered to Rosen.Jamal McDaniels is a Special Agent of the United States Secret Service assigned to the Presidential Protection Division. In preparation for the president's reelection campaign tour, the Secret Service learned that a little known domestic terrorist organization located in the West, possibly in Phoenix itself, may have targeted POTUS. McDaniels has been sent to Phoenix to coordinate with the local Secret Service office and investigate, locate and disrupt the terrorists' conspiracy. But POTUS's visit is in a few short weeks. Will the Secret Service have enough time to complete its mission?EXECUTIVE TARGET is a modern day political satire. Good guys and bad guys (and gals) operate across the country, seeking to have their side win it all. The action takes place in the White House, the newsroom of a media giant and in the desert. The reader will be privy to high-level White House meetings, conspirators' plans and who the winners and losers are in this political roller coaster ride.
