Overview

Jonah Raskin, San Francisco Chronicle

Miguel Mora

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
"An accomplished teacher, the best of my generation" -Roberto Bolaño, Between Parentheses

A Mexican writer visit an old friend in Tangiers who confesses that his son Abdelkrim is in trouble. He also hands him a bag with several audiotapes that tells the story of the Moroccan boy, a young math and technology prodigy who received a scholarship to study at a university in the United States and selected to attend a special NASA program.

Alongside the audiotapes, he also receives a USB drive containing documents in Arabic which he must decode. As he goes deeper into Abdelkrim's story, he discovers that he is being followed and that he is at the center of a conspiracy.

Rey Rosa creates a hypnotic and sensual thriller that takes us from Tangier to Patmos, from Mountain View to Istanbul, and makes us reflect on the times of extreme violence in which we currently live.
"A disciple of Jorge Luis Borges and Paul Bowles, Rodrigo Rey Rosa is a storyteller without a country or traditions, distinguished by an exemplary austerity in his writing." - Miguel Mora
