Hay quien sostiene que las relaciones sexuales tienen los días contados, y que en el futuro toda la reproducción humana se llevará a cabo en los laboratorios. También hay quien afirma que la duración del embarazo se irá reduciendo conforme mejore la tecnología de los úteros artificiales y que, cuestión de tiempo, la vida humana se concebirá y desarrollará sin que la estancia uterina sea condición sine qua non.
