In a world without color or justice, dominated by the misery of the many and the greed of the few, there is a region no one wants to cross. A dark place where treason reigns and danger is on all sides.

Nyx knows it well. She is a walker, a creature with an exceptional gift that makes her the deadliest of assassins but binds her to a ruthless master from whom she longs to be free.
Despite his youth, Lem is also no stranger to cruelty. He lived it firsthand at the Academy, where he failed at the art of predicting the future. All too aware of the punishment for falling short, he chooses escape as his only option.
