Overview

The sugar maples are turning, seasonal visitors have closed up their cottages, and one more summer has been packed away. But the residents of Sea Harbor, Massachusetts, have a celebration to look forward to—until a killer calls sudden death . . .

Known as the “old man of the sea” by locals, lifelong Sea Harbor resident Angus McPherron is ready to celebrate his 100th birthday. Staying in one of the handful of cottages Angus owns is Charlie Chambers, in town to fill a much-needed nursing position. Charlie’s sister, Izzy, Sea Harbor yarn shop owner, is thrilled he’s there, and grateful he’s around to check Angus’s vitals each morning—plus, she’s very curious about his mysterious roommate . . .

Meanwhile, Izzy and the other Seaside Knitters are busy planning Angus’s birthday bash, knitting his beloved gulls into everything they make. But the day before the party Charlie finds Angus has died in his sleep. Shocked and saddened, the town decides to continue with the festivities, which will now be a celebration of Angus’s life.

But when Angus’s closest friend, Father Northcutt, is found on the floor of Angus’s cottage, dead from a blow to the head, Angus’s death is examined more closely—and becomes a suspected homicide. As the knitters delve into Angus’s history, more questions than answers surface. Soon the community is concerned over a possible murder, and a tragedy buried deep in a shameful chapter in Sea Harbor’s past—one that may point to a killer still in their midst . . .
