París, 1867. Juan Nepomuceno Almonte, hijo de José María Morelos y Pavón, llega a Francia para solicitar la ayuda de Napoleón III con el fin de sostener el imperio de Maximiliano, sin embargo, no tiene éxito.
Unos meses después de la ejecución del emperador, un grupo clandestino de mexicanos y franceses que busca instaurar el Tercer Imperio Mexicano, lo contacta para que apoye sus ambiciones.

Paris, 1867. Juan Nepomuceno Almonte, son of José María Morelos y Pavón, arrives in France to ask Napoleon III for help, with the intention of supporting Maximilian’s rule. However, he is unsuccessful. A few months after the emperor’s execution, a clandestine group of Mexican and French people, looking to establish a Third Mexican Empire, contact Almonte to endorse their ambitions. The liaison between them is a young famous writer, with whom Almonte shares the great episodes of his past—what it has meant being the son of the so-called Servant of the Nation, his involvement in a few battles during the war for independence when he was just a boy, his later stay in New Orleans, the landmarks of his military and political career, as well as his relationship with Santa Anna, Juárez, Maximilian, Charlotte...
