Overview
Hope Circuits Illuminated invites us to rethink higher education’s role in an age of rupture. It assembles a remarkable group of scholars and students, presidents and professional staff, artists, Indigenous knowledge keepers, and public thinkers to explore the futures that post-secondary institutions can help build when they place human flourishing and democratic purpose at their centre.
Jessica Riddell convenes contributions from different countries, disciplines, roles, and lived experiences, deliberately centring those too often overlooked. Together they call us to cultivate a sense of wonder, ambiguity, and emergence – not as an indulgence, but as an essential way that higher education can engage with a complex and uncertain world. Resisting the impulse to quantify every outcome or resolve every paradox, Hope Circuits Illuminated champions shared learning and collective way-finding. The result is a conversation that honours multiple ways of knowing, embraces uncertainty as a condition of innovation, and advances hope as the strategic infrastructure necessary to reclaim public purpose.
Written for those who recognize that higher education stands at a moment of both exhaustion and possibility, Hope Circuits Illuminated issues a challenge: not to escape the rubble, but to garden within it; not to retreat into isolation, but to accompany one another toward life-sustaining futures.
