Overview
Founded in 1974 as a “college without walls,” Hudson County Community College (HCCC) was formed to serve the Hudson County community. In the 50 years since, it has revitalized Journal Square and North Hudson and become an integral part of Hudson County's educational, cultural, and economic landscape.
Witness through archival photographs HCCC’s transformation: from the early days of the Culinary Arts Institute to strategic partnerships with senior institutions and local employers, notable guest speakers to the Hudson Scholars program, and the first Commencement ceremony up to national and regional recognition. Hudson County Community College serves as a testament of the indelible mark HCCC has made and will continue to make in the future.
Dr. Nicholas Chiaravalloti most recently served as Vice President for External Affairs, Strategic Planning, and Senior Counsel to the President at Hudson County Community College. He is an educator, attorney and former legislator who received the 2025 Dr. Lawrence A. Nespoli Leadership Award from the New Jersey Council of Community Colleges (NJCCC). Dr. Chiaravalloti curated the images in Hudson County Community College from HCCC archives, Foundation, Office of Communications, alumni collections, and community contributors.
