Overview
Learn the techniques and beauty of clay impressions, one-of-a-kind works of art created by using colored clay rather than paint or ink. Written by one of the art's foremost proponents and practioners, this complete and easy to use book will describe the basics and lead the reader through the process step-by-step.
The unique quality of these works comes about through an unusual technique that uses color in the form of liquid (slip) and individually prepared pastels applied directly to a clay matrix with a brush, sieve, or various stencils. These colors are then inlaid into the matrix using newsprint and a simple roller. An impression is created by transferring the image from the clay matrix to nonwoven canvas.
The result—colorful clay impressions that can be framed under glass or stretched within a frame.
