Overview
It's not just a hockey book, it's the life story behind one of the NHL's most beloved voices.
For more than fifty years, Jeff Rimer has had a front-row seat to professional sports, witnessing unforgettable moments, legendary athletes, and the evolution of the National Hockey League from behind the microphone. From his early broadcasting days covering the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Expos, and Baltimore Orioles to becoming the longtime television voice of the Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, and Columbus Blue Jackets, Rimer built a career defined by passion, preparation, authenticity, and an unmistakable love for the game.
But the greatest stories weren't always the ones fans heard during the broadcast.
In It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This, Rimer invites readers behind the scenes of a remarkable career, sharing unforgettable encounters with hockey's biggest personalities, the friendships forged over decades, and the unexpected moments that shaped both his professional and personal life. With warmth, humor, and remarkable honesty, he reflects on the triumphs, disappointments, sacrifices, and life lessons that accompanied a lifetime spent in one of sports' most demanding professions.
More than a collection of hockey stories, this is a memoir about resilience, family, perseverance, and finding purpose through a career built on passion. Whether recounting unforgettable nights at the arena, moments of laughter behind the scenes, or the personal experiences that changed him forever, Rimer reminds readers that life's greatest victories are often measured far beyond the final score.
Fans of hockey will enjoy rare behind-the-scenes access to the NHL and the personalities who shaped the sport. Readers of memoirs will discover a deeply personal story about pursuing a dream, overcoming life's unexpected challenges, and appreciating the relationships that define a lifetime.
Rich with unforgettable stories, heartfelt reflection, and the unmistakable voice that hockey fans have welcomed into their homes for decades, It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This is an inspiring celebration of a remarkable career—and an even more remarkable life.
