Todo empieza en la Barcelona de posguerra, cuando una joven provoca accidentalmente un fenómeno que sume a la ciudad en una oscuridad total.
La luz se va en Barcelona todo un día, la solar y la artificial. Solo sobreviven una sutil claridad que nadie sabe de dónde procede y el resplandor del fuego. Las Barcelonas que han existido convergen y se superponen en el mismo lugar: reaparecen edificios desaparecidos y surgen otros del futuro. En ese territorio donde conviven tiempos y miradas que jamás debían coincidir, la ciudad queda desbordada por todas sus épocas.
El suceso provocará que un puñado de escritores y artistas vuelvan a la vida y se crucen en encuentros improbables. Así, Picasso hará llorar a Simone Weil, y Cortázar retratará a Laforet; Gaudí barnizará a los transeúntes; Bolaño se adelantará a su muerte; García Márquez huirá en una barca y George Orwell protegerá a Montserrat Caballé, Núria Espert y Jordi Savall de los proyectiles de la guerra. En medio de esta ruptura del tiempo, un fotógrafo capaz de revelar con su cámara lo que aún no ha ocurrido y muchos otros personajes unirán sus artes para intentar comprender qué ha pasado y cómo recuperar la luz perdida.

It all begins in postwar Barcelona, when a young woman accidentally triggers a phenomenon that plunges the city into total darkness.
For one entire day, Barcelona loses both solar and artificial light. Only a subtle glow of unknown origin and the flicker of fire remain. All Barcelonas that ever existed converge and overlap in the same place: vanished buildings reappear, and others from the future emerge. In this territory where times and perspectives collide, the city is overwhelmed by all its eras.
The event brings back a handful of writers and artists, crossing paths in improbable encounters. Picasso makes Simone Weil weep, Cortázar portrays Laforet; Gaudí varnishes passersby; Bolaño races ahead of his death; García Márquez escapes by boat, and George Orwell shields Montserrat Caballé, Núria Espert, and Jordi Savall from the war’s projectiles. Amid this rupture of time, a photographer able to capture what has not yet happened, along with many others, join forces to understand what occurred and how to recover the lost light.
