It was they themselves who christened this new movement “Neoreaction” or the “Dark Enlightenment.” The ideas they championed were both ancient and hypermodern at the same time: destroying democracy, establishing a monarchy, running the state like a corporation, reestablishing inequalities between men and women, affirming genetic differences, and a long list of other ideas that have gradually shifted from the margins to the center of our political life.
