With the girl at risk of going blind, her scholarly and eccentric grandfather assigns himself the task of introducing her to a work of art every Wednesday after school. Together, they visit Paris’s three great museums - the Louvre, Orsay and Beaubourg (Centre Pompidou) – and immerse themselves in the contemplation of paintings and sculptures so that their beauty and philosophy will permeate Mona’s psyche and leave her with their indelible imprint. Through the eyes of Botticelli, Vermeer, Goya, Frida Kahlo and Basquiat, Mona learns about generosity, doubt, melancholy, autonomy and indignation, incorporating these powerful lessons into her daily life.
