Overview
Raised by Filipino immigrants in South Central Los Angeles, Vicky spent her childhood learning how to survive by pleasing others, carrying impossible expectations, silencing her own needs, and measuring herself by what she could accomplish for everyone else.
These habits continued into adulthood when Vicky and her husband, Tim, founded The Story Company in 1996. While Tim’s star rose as the director behind hit-Hollywood movies (Barbershop, the Fantastic Four franchise, the Ride Along franchise, the Think Like A Man franchise), Vicky quietly ran The Story Company from the shadows, turning it into one of the industry’s top production companies. She appeared to have everything until a mysterious illness forced her to stop, reevaluate, and ask the question she had spent decades avoiding: Who am I when I stop living for everyone else?
Chronicling Vicky’s struggles with childhood trauma, racial identity, and family conditioning, My Sunshine Revolution is the story of one woman’s extraordinary journey back to herself. Through her own profound spiritual awakenings and ancestral teachings, Vicky guides us through the ten steps she took to rediscover herself after years spent defining herself as a wife, a mother, and an executive.
Part memoir, part spiritual wellness, and part practical guide, My Sunshine Revolution offers a roadmap for breaking inherited patterns, reclaiming your voice, healing old wounds, and becoming the brightest version of yourself. It is an invitation to stop shrinking, stop waiting for permission, and finally become the light that has always lived within you.
