Overview

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

On a plateau battered by cold and fog, Sara tries to sustain life with her bare hands: planting potatoes, tending the orchard, keeping a house standing that barely withstands the rain. But the territory she inhabits is not just landscape: it is permeated by ancient mythologies and the unsettling presence of a dark entity that seems to watch every movement.

Far away, or perhaps too close, Tomás is consumed by old age and his stubborn determination to domesticate a seed; by mistake, he tastes a plant that unleashes a series of dreams dragging him into the memories of his father and grandfather, until he becomes entangled with other bodies, other times, and other pains. Alongside them, Vladimir works the land, tends to animals, and in those dreams in which he too is swept up, he discovers that what he calls nature has its own stories that run through him more deeply than he would care to admit.

Noche, noche, noche explores the blurred boundary between wakefulness and sleep, body and territory, intimate grief and ancestral catastrophe. Diana Obando weaves a novel where the moor thinks and remembers, where plants heal and overflow, where fire purifies and ravages, and where the characters must decide whether to let themselves be swallowed by the darkness, or whether to cling, stubbornly, to a fragile yet luminous form of hope.
