Overview
For fans ages 4-8 of I Want My Hat Back, this is a humorous picture book about a posse of melodious songbirds and a croaky Blue Jay who tries to join them—and the surprising comic disaster that befalls them all.
SCRANG! SCRANG! SCRANG! sounds Blue Jay, who so desperately wants to join the cool chorus of sweet-sounding birds. Repeatedly, Blue Jay is rejected by lead singer Mockingbird and is so let down that she decides to keep her beak shut. But one day, when a disaster is looming and the songbirds don’t notice, Blue Jay must quickly figure out what to do— sound the alarm or keep quiet?
Told in a delightful and deliciously humorous voice, this story will lend itself to repeat read-alouds that together with its energetic illustrations will appeal to kids who love birds, animals, and darkly funny and interactive stories with surprising plot twists.
