Verona, 1392.
Romeo and Juliet have not yet met, but both have just turned sixteen and are among the four hundred Initiates ready to cross the threshold of the Academy: a year of training and deadly enigmas at the end of which, those who survive will gain the powers needed to defend the planet.
Earth, created millions of years ago by the goddess Alyaster, is at risk of being destroyed by the hatred of a faceless creature. To protect it, Alyaster created the Edenites: special beings capable of receiving part of her powers to prevent the end of the world, once their training at the Academy is complete. Thus begins the Season of the Reunion, a harsh and cruel period marked by a series of ruthless—and often fatal—competitions.
