Samuel Beckett’s life spanned most of the twentieth century, and his work is some of the most radical in the history of literature. To write about his life, Javier Olivares and Jorge Carrión expand the framework of the traditional biography to offer an artistic retrospective of his career in graphic format. Scenes from the author’s life alternate with interpretations of his writings, creating an elastic and conceptual rhythm consistent with Beckett’s unconventional prose. We observe him interacting with his family, meeting Carl Gustav Jung, engaging in drunken conversation with James Joyce, fleeing from the Nazis, and filming a movie with Buster Keaton, even as we admire the richness and mysteries of Waiting for Godot, Endgame and other works.
