Overview
When four high school soccer players and their families find themselves booked at a remote, run-down lodge instead of the hotel where the rest of their team is staying, tensions run high, and not just because they're traveling for a major tournament: Tory Decker, the newest teammate, seems to love playing on the others' insecurities. Until she's murdered in the night.
Now, with the hotel under lockdown for the investigation, no one's buried secrets are safe. Sixteen-year-old Olivia has always been something of an outcast, even before her little brother's high-profile, suspicious death. So, when Olivia's infamous mother—freshly out of prison and practically a stranger—comes along to the tournament, Tory's bullying reaches a new level.
Star player Roselyn knows the showcase tournament is her moment to shine. But Roz isn't as perfect as she seems. With scouts watching and college scholarships on the line, Roz can only take so much of Tory trying to steal her spotlight.
Casey dreams of following in the footsteps of her soccer star older brother, Drew, and is thrilled that he's come to watch her play. But when Drew spends all his time getting fawned over by Tory, Casey's had enough.
Told in multiple perspectives and timelines, this is a twisty, propulsive, keep-you-guessing thriller.
