Overview
One follows supersleuth Edie in present-day UK and Poland, where she investigates art that may have been stolen from her family during the Nazi invasion. The other takes readers back to 1940, into Nazi-occupied Poland, where 13-year-old Ela—Edie’s great-aunt—faces the full horror and consequences of the invasion. Acting as Edie’s alter ego, Ela’s story intertwines with Edie’s own, creating a powerful and dramatic narrative.
Edie’s journey takes her from Downing Street, where she’s honored for her past good deeds, to an art dealer in Amsterdam, her ancestral hometown in Poland, and even the Auschwitz concentration camp. But as she digs deeper, Edie uncovers dark family secrets—secrets that put her and her loved ones in mortal danger.
