Overview
In 1926, just as golf was becoming a popular pastime in America, legendary sportswriter Grantland Rice set out to make a golf book for the rest of us—for the “duffers,” the average golfers whose swing could frankly be a little better. In sixty short chapters written in his wry and witty prose—and sometimes his sparkling comic verse—Rice reflects on the joys and frustrations of the game, and also shares a good many useful tips gleaned from the great golfers of the day, including Walter Hagen, Jim Martin, and Bobby Jones. Charming cartoons by Clare Briggs, a pioneer of the American comic strip, are interspersed throughout.
This new gift edition of The Duffer’s Handbook, featuring a stamped binding in real cloth, will bring Grantland Rice’s humor and wisdom to a new generation of golfers.
