Francisco Cienfuegos, un joven mestizo que se rebela contra el mundo de su padre criollo, ve su destino cambiar cuando se une a las fuerzas insurgentes. Con el transcurso de los años, y gracias a su inteligencia y ambición, Francisco forja alianzas con figuras clave de la historia de México como Santa Anna, logrando ascender a general de brigada. Sin embargo, a medida que su influencia crece, también lo hacen sus conflictos internos y familiares. La llegada de Benito Juárez al poder, y posteriormente la de Maximiliano de Habsburgo, desatan una serie de dilemas para Francisco, cuyo apoyo al Segundo Imperio divide a su familia.
En medio de intrigas políticas, el patriarca de los Cienfuegos se ve obligado a tomar decisiones difíciles. Con su legado en juego y enfrentando a sus propios hijos, Francisco tendrá que decidir hasta dónde está dispuesto a arriesgar para preservar todo por lo que ha luchado.

Francisco Cienfuegos, a young mestizo who rebels against the world of his Creole father, sees his destiny change when he joins the insurgent forces. Over the years, and thanks to his intelligence and ambition, Francisco forged alliances with key figures in Mexican history such as Santa Anna, managing to rise to brigadier general. However, as their influence grows, so do their internal and family conflicts. The arrival of Benito Juárez to power, and later that of Maximilian of Habsburg, unleash a series of dilemmas for Francisco, whose support for the Second Empire divides his family.
In the midst of political intrigues, the patriarch of the Cienfuegos is forced to make difficult decisions. With his legacy at stake and facing his own children, Francis will have to decide how far he is willing to risk to preserve everything he has fought for.
